She started her career as an anchor and senior producer at Court TV in 1991. In 1994, she moved to ABC News as a correspondent, and after about a decade, she took the responsibility of co-anchor for Nightline.

After 20 years working with ABC News, she left the network for NBC network where she now serves as a Senior Legal and Investigative Correspondent.
