The American actress Naya Rivera, who is known for portraying the character of the sharp-witted cheerleader Santana Lopez on Fox's musical comedy series Glee, has been missing since Wednesday.

The 33-year-old actress was reported missing after a trip to Lake Piru in Ventura County, California with her 4-year-old son, Josey.

When the rented pontoon was overdue for return after the three-hour rental, the staff at the lake found only her son on the boat.

The Search For Naya Rivera Continues

Although a couple of days have passed since the actress has gone missing, the search-and-rescue operation has been continuing.

One of the staff at the lake found her rented boat on the north end of Lake Piru where only her son was there with the life jacket on. Another life jacket was found on the boat with Rivera’s purse and her identification.

According to the detectives, who have spoken to Rivera’s son, she might have not made it to the shores. The authorities presume that she drowned in the lake as the boat was not anchored and was not near the shore.

Since there are numerous plants and trees in the search area and the lake has very low visibility, her body is nowhere to be found. Ventura County Sheriff's Sgt. Kevin Donoghue said,

"If the body is entangled in something beneath the water, it may never come back up."

With the goal to bring Rivera home to her family, the search is currently focused on the north end of the lake.

Son And Ex-Husband

Rivera’s son Josey is currently with her ex-husband Ryan Dorsey. On Thursday, Daily Mail spotted Dorey and Josey together.

Rivera, age 33, welcomed Josey with her ex-husband, Ryan Dorsey, back in September 2015. The ex-couple was married on 19 July 2014 and was bound in the marital relationship for four years. Their divorce was finalized in June of 2018. According to legal documents, the pair shared the joint custody of their son and dropped spousal support.

Rivera first filed for divorce in November 2016 asking for primary custody of their child. However, their divorce process took a turn when Rivera revealed their plans to call off the divorce in October 2017.

But on Thanksgiving 2017, Rivera was charged with misdemeanor domestic battery after Dorsey called 911 after she allegedly “got physical.” Rivera filed for the divorce for the second time over a week after the incident. According to the legal documents, their separation date was listed 24 November and the reason behind their divorce was cited as “irreconcilable differences.”

Rivera and her ex-husband began dating back in 2010. Meanwhile, she was engaged to rapper Big Sean with whom she called off her engagement just three months before she tied the knot with Dorsey in Cabo San Luca, Mexico.
